Welcome Party

Welcome Party Logistics

What is the Welcome Party dress code?

Cocktail attire: think fun, festive, and a little dressy to kick off the wedding weekend. Light, breathable fabrics and summer colors are perfect for our gallery gathering!

Will the welcome party be indoors or outdoors?

The Fathom Gallery Georgetown includes both an indoor gallery and an outdoor garden courtyard; we will use both spaces throughout the evening. Please dress for summer weather—light, breathable fabrics for the courtyard—and know the indoor gallery is air‑conditioned so you can stay comfortable inside.

Where is the gallery located?

Please note there are two Fathom Gallery locations in D.C.; confirm your drop‑off is at 1351 Wisconsin Ave. NW. The Fathom Gallery Georgetown sits directly on Wisconsin Avenue NW (between O St and P St). Look for the vintage neon GEORGETOWN marquee over the sidewalk; the entrance is directly beneath it. A short set of stairs leads down to the main gallery level. If you or a guest need to avoid stairs, the venue is fully ADA accessible via an alternate step‑free entrance. Alert the welcome staff at the front door when you arrive and they will gladly assist you.

Wedding Day

Wedding Attire & Venue Logistics

What is the wedding dress code?

Formal, but summer-friendly. We encourage lightweight, breathable fabrics and slightly brighter, floral‑inspired colors. Suggested options include summer-weight suits or tuxes and brightly colored or floral dresses.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will all be indoors on-site at Union Station with minimal walking between each. The venue is air‑conditioned, but it will still be mid‑August in Washington, D.C., so please dress comfortably for the heat. Given Union Station’s architecture and history, many guests may also enjoy stepping outside for photos.

What time should I arrive?

The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 PM. Please plan to arrive and be seated no later than 5:15 PM. We strongly encourage you to allow extra time for unpredictable D.C. traffic.

Where is the ceremony located?

The ceremony will be held in the Presidential Suite at Union Station, which has a separate entrance from the main station. When facing the front of Union Station, the Presidential Suite is located on the far right (east) end. There will be welcome signage and staff at the entrance to direct guests.

Wedding Travel & Transport

Will transportation be provided?

Shuttle service will be provided from The Mayflower Hotel and the Dupont Circle Hotel. Shuttles will arrive at Dupont Circle at 4:15 PM and depart at 4:25 PM, then arrive at The Mayflower at 4:30 PM and depart at 4:45 PM. Return shuttles to both hotels will run with an early departure at 9:30 PM and a final departure, following the send-off, at 11:00 PM.

Is the venue accessible by public transit or rideshare?

For rideshare or taxi, set your dropoff to "Presidential Suite at Union Station" (50 Massachusetts Ave NE) to be dropped directly in front of the ceremony entrance. If arriving by Metro (Red Line), follow signs for "Shops & Massachusetts Avenue", take the long escalator to the street level and head toward the front exit. Before exiting the front glass doors, turn left into the Main Hall, exit through the front doors, then turn left to walk along the covered colonnade to the far east end. The Presidential Suite entrance will be on your left.

Is there parking available at the venue?

Though we strongly encourage other transit options (hotel shuttle, rideshare, or metro), guests may park in the Union Station Parking Garage (entrance on H Street NE). From the garage, take the escalator down into the station, walk past the center kiosks, descend the marble steps into the Main Hall, and exit through the front doors onto Massachusetts Avenue. Turn left immediately and follow the covered outdoor arches to the far end of the building; the Presidential Suite entrance will be on your left.
